what is a Great Aunt?

A "great" aunt is someone who loves their nieces, nephews and godchildren to bits, enjoys giving them fabulous presents and has the ability to keep them entertained and happy for hours on end.

Most importantly, a truly great aunt is a fun and supportive friend to the parents of those children.

Our research has shown that aunts don't want (or need) to know absolutely everything about childcare. They want just want to understand enough to have the confidence to enjoy their honoured role to the max.

what does this website do?

Our mission is to give British aunts the confidence and the means to feel "great" about the role that they play in the lives of the children they love.

Busy women know that all of the answers they seek can be found online but they are also aware that the internet is a book they will never finish. Now, instead of trespassing on one of the 50 or so UK mumsites, aunts can visit GreatAunt.co.uk for their own need-to-know, quick-to-read nuggets of information.

We provide this information via articles written by real-life aunts and experts plus a weekly email newsletter delivered straight to your inbox.

why is it such a small site?

This is a beta version of the website of our dreams. We've started small and simple but we have grand plans. Watch this space!

why don't you have a chat forum?

Two reasons. Firstly, Facebook provides this service that far supersedes our skills and budget. Secondly, when we interviewed a panel of busy aunts, they told us that they were at online account overload. We didn't want to give you yet another logon to remember.

do you mind if I steal your idea and set up my own site?

Yes and no. Yes in that anything that helps aunts can only be a good thing. No because we've worked blooming hard on this site and would like some credit.

how can I promote my product to your readers?

Lots of ways. If you are a registered charity we are happy to help for free (subject to review and availability). The only thing we would never do is sell our readers email addresses to you.
